Homework starts tonight

I hope everyone did their homework tonight.  Remember you only have to read 1 book and do 1 math practice sheet every night.  Everyone should return their homework packet to school on Friday.  Everyone switches their bag of books out on different days, so check the note in your bag as a reminder.

Spelling homework will start next week.

It's been so exciting getting to know all my students and letting them get to know each other too.  We've also learned a lot of procedures as well.

We started learning about workstations on Friday.

First Day of School

Today was a great first day of first grade! 

The students were excited & nervous... and as we read in the First Day Jitters, the teacher can be just as excited or nervous as them.

We spent a lot of time getting to know each other and learning procedures.  So many students remembered things from last year and were great models for everyone.

I can already tell everyone is ready to learn and want to do their personal best this year!

Twas' the night before first grade...

I'm sure all of you are getting excited or maybe even nervous for tomorrow.  I'm excited, nervous, anxious, and scared too.  I just wanted to let you know I am looking forward to an awesome year with you all.  Get a good night rest and don't forget to sprinkle your confetti under your pillow before you go to bed.

Back To School Magic Confetti

The night before school is exciting and fun.
There are always so many things to be done.

Your clothes are ready, your backpack is too.
Your classroom is full of fun things you will do.

There are so many questions that go through your mind,
All types of thoughts of every kind.

But sometimes we all get the jitters down deep
And that makes it hard to fall fast asleep.

So I've made you some magic confetti, it really is cool.
It will help you be rested and ready for school.

Just place the confetti next to your bed.
On the night before school starts where you lay down your head.

The confetti will help you sleep through the night
And you will wake up in the morning fresh and bright.

I'll place the confetti near my bed, too
And remember, I just can't wait for school so I can see you!

Open House

On Tuesday, I  got my class list!  I was very excited and couldn't help but to get to school early to find out who my cute little first graders are this year. 

Now I have to wait to meet them.  Our school has Open House on August 18 and I can't wait!
