tick tock on the clock

We started learning about time today.  We tried to guess how long a minute was, learned the word analog, and reviewed the parts of a clock.  We will be practicing telling time to the hour and half hour throughout the year.
Then we learned a fun song/dance to help us remember what we learned.  Check us out!

We're learning about another earth material!

Welcome Nicholas!

On Monday we had a new student join our classroom family!
Welcome to NMBP Nicholas!

Tuesday's Talk

Here's something to talk about over dinner... or in the car... or whenever you can fit it in.

Concept/Question Board

This is what it looks like now.
Ask your child about it.
It's for them to contribute to, so talk about something they can bring in for the board.

yoga

We experienced our first yoga class this Thursday! They all seemed to like it and (with a few giggles along the way) we learned good posture and breathing techniques.  Pretty soon we'll be able to teach our families a few things!

I scream... you scream...

we all scream for...
ICE CREAM!

I'm so proud of how hard our class has worked to learn all the procedures.  I see them making so many good choices throughout the day and so have several other people at NMBP.  Every time we get a compliment on our behavior from someone in our building, we earn a link on our compliment chain.  Once they reach their goal, we vote on a prize.

Ice cream party!

We made it to our Compliment Chain goal today!
Ask your child what it's all about!

Geologists

I wouldn't be surprised if someone in our class decided to be a geologist later in life. We have been learning about earth materials, specifically rocks, in Science lately and the students love it!

Superstar & Artist of the Week

Each week, Mr. Hoffnagle chooses a Superstar of the Week for PE.
Christopher was our Superstar last week!

In Art, the students have been learning about statues and working hard to create a picture of the Statue of Liberty.  When I walked in to take pictures, they were all working so diligently!

We have had 2 Artists of the Week so far.

week 2

During week 2, we continued learning and reviewing procedures.  Everyone is getting back into the school routine... including Mrs. King :)

We learned the Penny Dice game, Bunny Hop, and Top It this week and the kids loved them all.  At least once a week, they'll have the opportunity to play some of the games we've learned with a partner.  You can also play these games at home.  Ask your child about them.

All week long we have been working on creating an alphabet book in writing.  Each day we brainstormed some words that started with the letters/sounds we learned in Phonics.  Here are some of the students working on their letter for our class book.
