yoga moves
We are getting better and better at our yoga skills! Here is a video of what the children are doing in yoga.
Ask them to show you a few things at home!
Way to go!
We have so many students working hard in specials (PE, library, computer lab, art, music) it's hard to keep up with them all!
I'm proud of everyone! Keep it up!

The Reindeer Whisperer
We had a wonderful musical performance put on by 4 first grade classes this Tuesday! I know Mrs. Funderburk and the children worked long and hard on it and it sure was great! If you weren't able to come and see your child or you just want to watch it over and over again, we are selling the DVD for $5.00.
I wanted to post more pictures of the children on stage, but I can't because of the 3 other classes. Here are a few as we were getting ready though :)

helping others
A few weeks ago, NMBP had a food drive in conjunction with Helping Hands. We brought it so many cans to help feed other people during the holiday season! We weren't the winning class, but we sure did feel good helping others. We brought in almost 170 food items!

Happy Thanksgiving
We sure do have a lot to be thankful for... and that's what I tried to teach the students the few days before Thanksgiving. We did lots of fun Thanksgiving/turkey/fall activities, but I really wanted the students to understand what it meant to be thankful. My class is very special to me and I am thankful to have the chance to get to know and teach them all!
I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Book Fair
A few weeks ago, the book fair came to our school library and the kids were super excited! One afternoon, we went in and browsed the shelves for our favorite books and made a wish list for our families. It was a neat experience for them to "shop" for books they wanted.

We're famous!
Our class was on the news tonight at 6:00! WBTW, Channel 13 news, came to do a piece on yoga in schools. The kids did a fabulous job showing off their yoga skills and I think they're ready to move to Hollywood!

celebrate good times... come on!
I am very proud of my whole class for their hard work this quarter. As a whole, we have made so much progress already and I'm excited to continue to watch them learn more! We have a jam-packed 3 quarters coming up... so keep up the hard work boys and girls!
As I told the children before the awards celebration, not everyone earned an award this time. However, we have 3 other times throughout the year to earn one.

Thank you Veterans
This past week we learned what a veteran is and why we celebrate Veterans' Day. We hung our stars on the Veterans' wall and were amazed at how many Veterans were being recognized in our first grade families. Thank you to the men and women who keep us safe and fight for our freedom.
