busy busy busy...

We've been up to a bunch of fun things the past month!

Our biggest focus has been to prepare for 2nd grade. They are working hard on reading fluency and comprehension. Many of the students have already met the end of the year goal for first grade! Remember 47 words per minute is the minimum.
We are counting quarters, dimes, nickels, and pennies and working on strategies for subtraction math facts.  In writing,  we have been writing summaries, book reports, & instructions.

Only 1 more quarter left and still so much to learn!  Like I've told so many parents, I am very proud of our class and how much they have grown in 3 quarters... I can't wait to see them at the end of the year!

Sorry everyone.... I'm really behind on updates.  Our class has been super busy working hard to meet our end of the year goals for reading and math!  I do have pictures of some things going on though, so be looking for some new posts soon.

In the meantime, lets celebrate all these award winners!

Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!

On Friday, our school celebrated Dr. Seuss' birthday with a character book dress-up parade.  Some of my students dressed up with different costumes (Harry Potter, Fly Guy, Cat in the Hat, Superman, Dinosaur, Ariel) but most of them were "Things" from The Cat in the Hat.  We all had a great time seeing parents and other friends throughout the parade!
